MUN. what the hell is it?

What is Model United Nations?
The Model United Nations is a simulation of the real United Nations. It gives students the chance to discuss current world issues within the context of a United Nations body, like the Security Council or Economic and Social Committee, while acting as an ambassador of a country. Before every conference, students will research their country and will learn about that countries’ foreign policy and goals on the topic that will be discussed in their committee. Students will also do extensive research on past UN resolutions, international conferences, UN mission statements, and the different UN organizations and offices.
Members of a MUN club, will work closely with each other to develop and conduct research, participate in practice debates, and will be molded into an outstanding representative of their school and community.

What is the goal of the Model United Nations?

The goal of the Model United Nations is to encourage international cooperation at a young age by giving students a global perspective of world politics by encouraging them to find collective solutions that all states can adopt.
The Model United Nations also increases the participants’ awareness of the diverse world in which all live by encouraging them to act consciously of others as seemingly regional problems can have a global significance.
The students’ mission at the conference is to create an effective solution that promotes the goals of the UN and MUN.

How do we benefit from participating in a Model United Nations conference?
Students from all departments and interests benefit from participating in a Model United Nations conference. The UN covers a wide range of issues from Human Rights to Science and Technology. Because of this there is something for everyone and the Model United Nations is a great place to gain knowledge about opposing viewpoints on global topics.
People from all over the world come to participate in Model United Nations conferences. This allows students to have a network of connections that extend worldwide, while making lifelong friendships.
